During the Papal Audience all pilgrims and visitors receive the Papal or Apostolic Blessing from the successor of the Apostle Peter during their visit. The Audience consists of small teachings and readings mainly in Italian but also in English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese and sometimes other languages.

The Angelus

Whether you’re religious or not, it’s always amazing to see a globally important figure in the flesh. The Angelus, a holy Catholic church devotion, is held at St Peter’s Square in Vatican most Sundays at midday. Pope Francis will appear from the window of his study overlooking Saint Peter’s Square, and he gives a short speech followed by the Angelus, ending with an Apostolic blessing. He may also greet the crowd in various languages.
The blessing, including the various greetings, usually lasts a maximum of 15 minutes. You do not need tickets for the Sunday Angelus, and almost any spot in Saint Peter’s Square will give you a good view, but you should plan to get there early because going through security takes time.
