Abstracts Submission Guidelines

The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts for presentation at the 21st European Congress on Gynaecological Oncology. In order to standardise the abstract layout, we kindly ask you to read the guidelines carefully.


Guidelines for Preparation of Abstracts
  • Abstracts may only be submitted Abstracts submitted by fax or email will not be accepted.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English. Please use UK English spelling.
  • The presenting author of an accepted abstract must register and attend the congress.
  • The number of submissions is limited to 3 per presenting author.
  • Paper poster presenters must be present and stand by their posters during their assigned poster sessions.
  • Provide a short specific title indicating the nature of the investigation. The background and goals of the study should appear clearly to the reader. The methods and results must contain data, and the conclusion should be clearly expressed. The following structure will be required:
    • Introduction/Background*
    • Methodology
    • Results*
    • Conclusion*
    • Disclosures*

  • The title may not exceed 50 words. The abstract text may not be longer than 300 words (excluding title and disclosures)
  • All abbreviations must be defined the first time they appear in your text (but, do not define in the title).
  • Tables (maximum 2), charts and other graphics (maximum 2) are permitted and must be in JPG format, high resolution.
  • Authors should indicate their presentation type preference:
    • oral or poster presentation
    • poster presentation only

The Scientific Programme Committee reserves the right to decide on the final allocation and presentation method.

  • Disclosure of potential conflict of interest (e.g. grant support, consultancy, membership on advisory councils, speaker’s bureau) by all authors and source of funding are mandatory. Each listed author should prepare a one sentence statement that will be published with the abstract. All disclosures should be listed within the last 3 year.
  • Abstracts from commercial entities will be considered. However, abstracts reporting results from collaborative research conducted by independent (non-company) investigators and investigators who are employees of commercial entities will not be accepted unless the independent (academic, clinician and/or scientist) investigators are included as authors.
  • Please make sure to state your correct e-mail After having submitted your abstract, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail with the following information:
    • reference number of your abstract (for correspondence and questions that might arise)
    • your personal user code and password.

  • Should you wish to make corrections to an abstract already submitted or if you wish to submit other abstracts later, you may use your personal access code. This will shorten the submission procedure.

  Corrections to abstracts can only be made up to the deadline of 3 May 2019, 23:59h CET.

  • We kindly ask you to upload a picture of the presenting author. Please prepare the photo in one of the following formats: JPG or GIF with a max. size of 1 MB. By uploading the picture you agree that the photo will be used in the Scientific Programme, Mobile App.

Each abstract will be reviewed by several experts and final selection will be made by the Scientific Programme Committee. Notification of acceptance or rejection of submitted abstracts will be sent to the corresponding authors via email in July 2019. Full instructions concerning preparation and presentation will be included.


Young Investigators' Sessions

Abstracts submitted by presenting authors who are aged 40 or younger (born on or after 1 January 1979) may be considered for the Young Investigators’ Sessions. Selected presenters will be invited to give an oral presentation followed by discussion. If you wish to be considered for this session, please click the appropriate checkbox during the online abstract submission process.


Late-Breaking Abstracts

ESGO offers the possibility to submit Late-Breaking Abstracts for the ESGO 2019 in Athens, Greece. The selected Late-Breaking Abstracts will provide an opportunity to communicate the most recent clinical and scientific breakthroughs to participants at the ESGO 2019 congress.

The submission period for these abstracts is not considered a prolongation of the regular abstract submission, which ends on May 5, 2019.
